The Ilan-Lael Foundation’s new Center for the Arts in Julian is a multipurpose gathering, performance, archive, and classroom space — the welcoming and inspirational centerpiece of our historic “campus” of art studios and residential structures used by the Hubbell team of artists, staff, and visitors alike.
Our one-of-a-kind venue, with freeform organic rooflines, swirls of mosaic art, and even a lookout rooftop deck, has intimate indoor and outdoor spaces suited for meetings, retreats, education, performances, and exhibitions. Nearby art studios provide education opportunities in a variety of practices. Trails from the Art Center lead through a wonderland of shady Engelmann oak groves into other areas of the property. The art and organic architecture of artist James Hubbell unites all and creates an immersive art experience unlike anything else in California.
