Estate Planning entitles you to be a member of the Legacy Society

Intertwine your legacy with the legacy of James and Anne Hubbell—touching and transforming lives through art, nature and beauty. Just as they laid the early foundation for their beautiful mountain home and what would become the Ilan-Lael Foundation, your estate gift, donating a specific amount or percentage of your estate to Ilan-Lael, can make part of your legacy the continuation of this vital work in the future.  Please let us know so we can thank you and include you in our Legacy Society.

Here is an example of the language you can add to your will or living trust:

I bequeath ___ [dollar amount or percentage of estate] to the Ilan-Lael Foundation, a nonprofit organization located at 930 Orchard Lane, Santa Ysabel, CA 92070, for its unrestricted (or otherwise agreed upon) use. Tax ID#95-3826760

To make Ilan-Lael Foundation the remainder beneficiary of your retirement plan, simply add us as the one of the beneficiaries

Planned giving guide

Planning your Giving with an advisor may allow you to leverage your estate gift into lifetime benefits, such as income tax deductions and increased annuity income for yourself and loved ones.  Ilan-Lael, and our Planned Giving consultant, can meet with you at no cost and identify some ideas that you can share with your advisors.  

There is a list of the planned giving types we include in our planned giving program in the next section. 

Give the Remainder Interest in your home and Save Now

By signing a deed that irrevocably gifts the remainder interest of your primary or vacation home (or farm) to a charity, like the Ilan-Lael Foundation, you will be entitled to a substantial income tax deduction (over 50% of the value of your property if you are over age 75)

Charitable Gift Annuities (CGA)

With this form of planned giving, you can give an asset, such as cash, to Ilan-Lael Foundation; in return, we help arrange payments based on the value of your gift so you receive fixed annual income for life. Once the payments are no longer needed, Ilan-Lael Foundation can use the remainder of your gift. You receive a reliable income, and we have the benefit of your committed support and gift. 

Note: Gift annuities to Ilan-Lael Foundation must be made with the understanding that a third party will manage the charitable gift annuity and make any income payments to the donor. 

Charitable Remainder Trusts

You may be able to sell real estate or diversify your stock portfolio by using a Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT). By irrevocably including your charitable estate intentions in the CRT (ie. listing a charity like the Ilan-Lael Foundation as the irrevocable beneficiary),

  • The CRT can sell your real estate or stock portfolio FREE OF ANY IMMEDIATE CAPITAL GAINS TAXES;
  • You will receive an income tax charitable deduction; 
  • You will receive a lifetime (fixed or variable) annuity payment; and
  • You can allow a charity like Ilan-Lael Foundation to count on receiving the balance of the undistributed CRT after your lifetime.

Help us inspire with our Operations Fund, which supports everything we do: This fund allows the Board and staff to direct the funds as they believe will best serve the needs of Ilan-Lael Foundation. This includes the essential support of our general and day-to-day operations, preservation and the invaluable staff that keep Ilan-Lael going. 

Help plant the seeds of Ilan-Lael’s Endowment: Supporting the Founders’ Circle is a select group of friends and family who give $500 or more and are recognized in perpetuity for planting the first seeds of the Ilan-Lael Endowment. The Founders’ Circle is only open for a limited time until we reach our goal of $500,000.
