This 4-hour session will introduce students to the basics of making natural dyes and create three beautiful scarves to take home with you. We’ll get you comfortably started exploring and refreshing your own items with color from nature! Students will receive an instruction booklet, 3 natural fiber scarves to hand-dye (choice of chiffon silk, habotai silk, or bamboo rayon); & samples from each natural dye pot.
Learn the secrets of working natural dyes with Jeanine Ertl: Weaver, Natural Dyer, Teacher, and Owner of ANINI Designs, a local textile business in the southern California mountains. Jeanine is committed to working with others to learn about Weaving, Natural Dyes and Shibori Technique, as a way to expand our own experiences, self-exploration, and growth. She creates modern, nature-inspired handwoven and hand-dyed textiles that speak in conversation with, for, and in support of our amazingly rich, diverse, ever-inspiring environment.
