In July 2009, James Hubbell and a group of 13 students joined together to build a Chapel at Ilan-Lael.  Christened the Chapel/Quiet Space, this open air shell is nestled just behind the organic vegetable garden. To be delicately embellished with stained glass, mosaics, and metal sculpture, it allows for quiet contemplation, with sweeping views of the nearby valley which are the headwaters of the San Diego River, Palomar Mountain standing sentry to the northwest, and in the far distance, the Pacific Ocean.
