The Shadow Side of the Moon: The Cedar Fire
by James Hubbell
This book came about after the Cedar Fire in San Diego, California, October 2003, as an attempt to understand and give value to a world that had been emptied of so much. It asked the questions, “What meaning does loss, not only through fire, have in our lives? Could this changed world still hold beauty? The water colors by James Hubbell and photos by his friend Tom Lamb came about in that space before the new green began to appear. They are all reflections on the land around Ilan-Lael, the Hubbell’s home and studio.
