These artworks are subconscious journals: chapters of his life illuminated through a series of shows. This is Chapter 1. Working in ‘automatic states’ in varied spaces from bars to desolate wilderness, sometimes solo, other times alongside friends, he lets his hands respond unconsciously, making the act porous, in which his internal landscape interpolates the energies of his environment. This collection spans June to October 2024; a raw period processed wholly across Mexico, the Yuba River, and late nights in San Francisco with friends. Each piece is housed in a hand-carved frame utilizing redwood gifted to him from a friend’s property in La Honda, California. The frames were composed taking visual cues from the paintings themselves, blending craft and art into the work you see.
