About the Artist: Mati Rosa Moon cared for James Hubbell’s garden and native landscape for many years and felt a great synchronicity with Hubbell’s art and love of nature that abounded there. Mati lives in a small cabin on the side of a mountain that spills over into the Anza-Borrego Desert, a harsh and strikingly beautiful environment defined by rock outcroppings, ephemeral wildflowers and seasonal creeks. Mati is a studio ceramic artist at Ilan-Lael where she teaches and develops accessible arts programming for her community.
