Immerse Yourself in James Hubbell’s Legacy – Our Stops

  • Museo Kumiai (downtown Tecate): In a building designed by James Hubbell, we’ll delve into the rich cultural heritage of the indigenous Kumiai people at the Museo Kumiai at CAREM. Here, amidst artifacts and exhibits, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the cultural landscape that influenced James Hubbell’s art.
  • Rancho La Puerta: Our guides will lead you on a captivating exploration of James Hubbell’s works inspired by nature. Through visits to key locations with insightful commentary, gain a newfound understanding of the artist’s vision and techniques in Mexico.
  • Tres Estrellas: Organic farm and kitchen for a world class lunch.
  • Las Piedras Environmental Center: Witness this vital community and educational resource in Tecate, Las Piedras Environmental Center. We’ll explore the nature center which James Hubbell collaborated with on with Sarah Brightwood and the team at Rancho La Puerta. The Center was a gift to the Tecate community by the Szekely family, owners of Rancho La Puerta Resort & Spa.

Please Note: This tour requires walking in warm summer sun, participants should be in good physical condition, able to walk several miles. Comfortable walking shoes and sun protection are essential. Not recommended for those with serious medical conditions, walkers or canes.

  • This tour is designed for a small group, ensuring a personalized and interactive experience.
  • A valid passport is required PLUS a Visa must be submitted 7 days prior to the trip.  See Link for details on one day VISA: https://www.inm.gob.mx/fmme/publico/en/solicitud.html
  • If your passport is 6 months or less away from expiration you will need to complete additional requirements.
  • Lunch at the Rancho La Puerta’s famed organic farm, Tres Estrellas. Lunch is included in price. (dietary restrictions can be accommodated with prior notice).
  • We will meet at the pedestrian crossing at Tecate, CA at 9:00am. Our RLP hosts will assist us through the border, and shuttle us via vans around Tecate during our visit. We will be dropped off at the pedestrian crossing at the end of the day approximate time 4pm.
