Visit a San Diego treasure!
Once again we invite you to visit the hand-built home, studios and gardens of
James and Anne Hubbell. The property has returned to all its glory over the past
decade since the great fire, and more new construction is underway on a courtyard
building to house the activities of the Ilan-Lael Foundation.
As you walk the winding paths through wildflowers, or look inside the
“Boys’ House” to marvel at the way sunlight pours through stained glass,
and surely greet James in his studio—and much more—you will be inspired
by the way nature and art can truly dance together as one. Much more
than a home tour, the Open House is an immersive experience of art
and architecture uninhibitedly expressed amidst cathedral canopies of
spreading oaks, sun-warmed boulders, and hawk shadows moving
across the Santa Ysabel hills.
Whether your first visit or 50th, this annual event calls you to the
mountains for the day. Admission fees go entirely to the non-profit
Ilan-Lael Foundation, dedicated to preserving the property and
bringing art and nature events to the community. We hope to see you there!
