Bert Hubbell, brother of James Hubbell, has given 13 acres of adjoining land to Ilan-Lael.  This brings the total to 43 acres of natural landscape that is now part of the Ilan-Lael site.  Ilan-Lael also holds eight historic structures.  New buildings and features are being planned for the original ten acre property.  The newly added land will remain in its natural state however, further enhancing the solitude and tranquility at the site.  Ilan-Lael, which sits in the shadow of Volcan Mountain, complements the mission of the Volcan Mountain Preserve, which has set aside upwards of 17,000 acres around Julian, CA to protect, preserve, and enhance the natural mountain habitat.
